I think you did the right thing by having your baby and giving it to a person who was able to care for it the way you would not have been able to. It must have been a very hard decision for you. This was a very brave and unselfish thing to do especially carrying the baby for 40 weeks and putting yourself through that and then having to give it up. You could have legally made your “problem” go away. With Roe v Wade, the supreme court gave women the right to choose what they want to do with their own body and the 14th amendment also gives you the right to your privacy to make the decision. Pro-choice means that it is your choice and it is your body. Whatever decision you made is your right.
You realized what a big responsibility and all the sacrifices you would have to make to raise a child at such a young age and you made the right choice to have the baby and give it up for adoption. I am not for or against abortion because it depends on the situation a person is in to make that decision. You got yourself in this situation by not taking precautions and that is the biggest mistake and then you realized your baby deserved to be born. Your gift of life was probably the best gift you could give someone. If I were in a situation to make a decision about life or abortion at such a young age, I probably would not have been as strong as you.
I am sure you will know when you are ready to be a parent with the time is right. It can be a very rewarding time in your life but it has to be at the right time. You made somebody else’s life whole and complete by giving them a baby to raise and take care of the way you could not have. You realized that having a baby is a big responsibility. At age 16, you have so many decisions and your whole life ahead of you. I am sure it was not easy for you to carry the baby also and you put your body through a lot . It would have been really hard for you to raise the child and I am sure the person who has your baby will be forever grateful for the life you provided them.
